It was clear from the start of the weekend that the track in Lausitz was not ideally suited to the BMW M4 GT4. Nevertheless, Leon Wassertheurer improved by several places in Saturday's race and handed over the car in 10th place midway through the race. Tim Reiter was able to gain further positions and finally placed the BMW from Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport in P7 in the second half of the race.
In qualifying on Sunday, Tim Reiter continued his strong performance from Saturday. The MSC Sielmingen driver started the race from eighth place as the best BMW. A rain shower shortly before the start of the race forced the 25-year-old onto rain tires. Reiter was able to maintain his position at the front of the field and drove the car confidently on the wet track. The track dried out before the pit stop window opened, so the teams switched to slicks during the pit stop as well as changing drivers. Wassertheurer finally saw the chequered flag in seventh place after his fast laps.
"I'm very happy with my performance at the weekend and the result in Saturday's race. I would have liked to have scored more points in Sunday's race, but unfortunately the weather conditions were not ideal. I'm now concentrating on the race weekend at the Norisring," said Tim Reiter.
The upcoming ADAC GT4 Germany races will take place as part of the DTM from July 5 to 7 at the Norisring. All races will be broadcast live on Sport1 free-to-air TV.
